Description of Position – Assist Day Service Manager daily with trainers and participants needs. Must be able to pass daily medications and follow all policies and procedures for med pass. Must be able to follow and model the curriculum provided to enable individuals to enhance their skills for community engagement. At times, provide direct services to the clients which include personal hygiene, active programming, housekeeping, daily living skills, and recreational and community integrated activities. As needed, assist with client/staff ratio within the program room and coverage for staff as needed. Staff will be positive, active and compassionate activities based on the daily schedule and individual needs. Assist ADAPT staff in delivering fun, safe, and interactive programming and activities and report feedback to appropriate person. Strive to stage entertaining and engaging activities that will appeal to the individual thus creating a high participation daily.  Staff will supply a direct line of contact to ADAPT staff for supplies, direct care assistance, task/goal related concerns, and other non-managerial concerns. As needed, staff will attend quarterly PCISP meetings to discuss goal activities and daily agendas.

 

Documentation – Daily or monthly as required by state regarding feeding and activity schedules, medications, billing, etc. Incident reports.

 

Education/Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Ability to operate & train others on the operations of bus, vans, cars, and wheelchair lifts

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

 

Experience Required:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, journals, and bank statements.

  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all banking accounts.

House Manager

HOUSE MANAGER – Full Time

TradeWinds Services is a non-profit agency that has been providing support and care to individuals with intellectual disabilities in Northwest Indiana for 50 years.

The House Manager is a pivotal position in the home and is responsible for health care, nutrition and household management. Coordination of a variety of services can include but not limited to client finances, recreation, program services, family involvement, education & vocational programs, client care, communication with staff, direct training, coaching and follow-up with residential instructors. Shift schedules can include night’s, holidays and weekends.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, be 18 years of age and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written. Must be responsible, reliable with the ability to make sound judgements within policies and guidelines. Prior education or experience in residential services is preferred; with a sincere desire to provide direct service to persons with intellectual disabilities a must.

Curriculum Specialist

Department: ADAPT & General Production

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m.– 4:00 p.m.

Description of Position: – Develop A.D.A.P.T & Pre-Vocational skill-based curriculum for adults with intellectual disabilities.  Provide training, modeling, and monitoring of the curriculum implementation with the A.D.A.P.T and Pre-Vocational Trainers.  Research and develop hands on training opportunities or job trials in the center and community settings for participants to develop skills within an integrated community setting.  Ensure daily curriculum/lesson plans for ADAPT and Prevocational departments. Lessons plans should be detailed oriented and include directions and steps as well as ordering supplies for day programs. Monitor and track outcomes or effectiveness of curriculum; develop accommodations as needed as well as curriculum enhancement.

 

Education/Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Education / Special Education, or related field.

 

Experience Required:

Curriculum writing experience or similar writing experience. Two years working with people with disabilities preferred.

TVT Lead Trainer

Department: Adult Day Activity Program & Training & Transitional Vocational Training (ADAPT/TVT)

Hours: Full-Time - 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

TradeWinds Services is seeking a Lead Trainer to ensure the Transitional Vocational Training (TVT) program remains in compliance with all State regulatory agencies and meet the needs of the adults enrolled in the program.  Provide daily support of all TVT participants as needed.  Daily completion of curriculum and individual goals.  Weekly community outings to encourage and train for community jobs.

Education Requirements:    High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

Experience Required:  Previous experience working directly with participants with disabilities. Previous data entry experience, knowledge of computers and ability to learn other software programs.

Position Reports to:   Prevocational & ADAPT Lead

Additional Information:  Must be responsible, reliable individual who can work independently, multi-task and manage time wisely. Able to train from a provided curriculum and complete daily tasks in a timely manner. Have a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years and be at least 21 years of age. Must clear TradeWinds background checks.

ADAPT Substitute Pre-Vocational Production Trainer

Hours: As Needed - Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm

This is a substitute position to fill in as needed, working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Description of Position:   Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans.  In addition, provide training to enable the person served to maximize their performance on a variety of production jobs.  Job accommodations and daily written documentation are required regarding participants’ progress and related service issues.  Participation in consumer person-centered planning meetings is required.

Education Requirements:   Minimum High school diploma or GED; post-secondary/training preferred.

Experience Required:  Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education and/or teacher’s aide experience. Shipping experience preferred.  Must be able to multi-task as well as effectively communicate both orally and written.  Must be able to objectively and calmly handle crisis situations.

Respite Care offers caregivers of children and adults with disabilities the opportunity for a short-term break to care for themselves, spend time with other family members, or have the freedom to run errands without worry. Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver’s license – must meet requirements. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a responsible, reliable person who is able to work independently. The flexible hours can be good for a college student, retiree, or a person looking for part-time employment.
