Maintenance Assistant

Department: Building & Grounds

Hours: Part-Time - Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm. Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Description of PositionResponsible for the appearance, safety, and maintenance of the main center and residential sites owned by TradeWinds. Plan & perform maintenance for all sites owned/operated by TradeWinds Services Inc.

Education Requirements: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, knowledge of building trades, must have a valid driver’s license

Experience Required: Experience in industrial and institutional maintenance repairs, experience with building trades, and ability to use power tools/maintenance equipment.

Childcare Teacher – 3-5 year old

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full-Time - Must be available Monday thru Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm (hours may vary)

Description of Position: Classroom management of normal developing and special needs children, supervise field trips, lesson planning and actively participate in daily learning and enrichment activities.  Feeding diapering and potty as well as following through on therapy recommendations necessary within the classroom setting.  The individual must possess creativity, enthusiasm and strong leadership qualities best suited to craft an optimal learning environment.  Must be able to complete documentation as required by state regulations.  Attend meetings with parents and/or department staff.  Review the work of aides and function independently in order to accomplish assignments, able to maintain confidentiality.

Education Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age.  Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  May require First Steps credentials.

Experience Required: Must have 3 months to one year experience in working with children in a childcare setting.  Must have good organizational skills.  Must have the ability to work with infants and young children as well respond properly to emergencies.  Key to this position well is a positive attitude, team player spirit and lots of energy with the ability and willingness to participate in outdoor/physical activities.

LEAD DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

Department: Residential Group Home

Hours: Full Time - Must work flexible hours

This position requires someone who can work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Description of Position:  Responsible to work cooperatively with the House Manager, QIDP, Coordinator & other staff in developing, implementing and evaluating programming, training, recreation, and therapeutic activities for the consumers of TradeWinds.  The Lead DSP is responsible to assist the House Manager in maintaining consistency in programming, participant care and communications with staff. The person in this position has the responsibility to take over responsibilities when the House Manager is not available (vacation, sick, etc.) and to assist the House Manager in training, follow-up and coaching the Direct Support Professionals.  This position is expected to maintain DSP responsibilities as well.

 Education Requirements: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a responsible, reliable person who is able to work
independently.

Sign Shop Worker / Office Assistant

Department: Sign Shop

Hours: Part-Time, Days

Description of PositionTo assist with the documentation of the sign-making process. Includes ordering and maintaining supplies, inventory, invoicing, and maintaining the customer database. Providing reporting information to the Fiscal and Marketing departments as required.

Education Requirements:      High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required: Computer skills: typing, data entry, e-mail, Word, Excel. Design, Publisher, Adobe skills a plus. Must be able to safely work with standard tools such as a knife, T-square ruler, tape measure, drill, saw, calculator, scissors, etc.

Position Reports to:   Sign Shop Designer/Coordinator

Additional Information:  Ability to organize and follow specific instructions. Must be detail orientated.

Childcare Classroom Floater

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full-Time - Must be available Monday thru Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm (hours may vary)

Description of Position: The Floater is to assist and cooperate in a supportive role working in various classrooms.  Promote health, safety, nutrition and appropriate developmental activities of the children in the classroom. All teachers will work with children with and without special needs.

Additional Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the teachers with the full implementation of Head Start, Paths to Quality, Indiana Early Childcare Licencing Regulations,  TradeWinds Services Policies and Procedures. Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families, to include respect for culture, diversity, and ethnicity. Works according to a schedule determined with input from all teaching staff and the Childcare Coordinator in all classrooms. Performs required caregiving activities for child/children, i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc. Utilizes positive discipline. Attends meetings, training, and professional development activities. Feeding, diapering, and potty training as needed.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA; experience working with children with special needs in a group setting preferred. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Creative Curriculum preferred.

Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Description of Position: Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) work directly and indirectly under the supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists. Work in the local school system and/or in-house setting here at Tradewinds. The job will require local travel to various schools within the community. Must be available for the school hour day from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Education Requirements:  Associate’s degree in an SLPA program or Bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.

Experience Required: Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised fieldwork experience or its clinical experience equivalent.

Childcare Teacher/Assistant/Sub

Description of Position: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing for the care, safety, and well-being of the children assigned to the classroom; supporting early learning experiences while using Creative Curriculum in the classroom. Responsible for implementing and following Childcare Licensing regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, Paths to Quality/NAEYC criteria, TradeWinds policies, procedures and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the classroom.

The Assistant Teacher assists in preparing the classroom materials and plans providing quality learning experiences for young children with and without special needs.  Assist in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and utilization of Teaching Strategies Gold. Utilizes positive discipline to guide the child’s behavior in positive ways that support total growth and development, and promote self-esteem; Must work collaboratively and maintain an open, friendly, and professional relationship with the teachers, family members, and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities.

Qualities the candidate must have:

 Additional Responsibilities:  Assistant teacher must obtain at least 20 hours of professional development a year, including attending meetings and training, and maintaining the appropriate competencies and abilities as required by the position; training may occur in the evenings or on weekends, or online.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education; Experience working with children with special needs preferred.

Sewing Machine Operators

Department: Industries - Sewing Department

Hours: Full-Time - Monday thru Friday (hours may vary)

Description of Position: Sew disposable coveralls, cloth smocks, tunics, and women’s slacks. Industrial sewing machine used including single needle, double needle, lockstitch, blind stitch. Required to maintain high quality while increasing production level to 90% minimum of standard rate.

Education Requirements: High school diploma preferred but not required.

Experience Required: Technical sewing skills required.  Experience of 1-2 years industrial sewing preferred. Skill level will be tested at interview.

Substitute Lunch Monitor

Department: Industries

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Description of Position: Supervise the adult participants in the lunchroom/break area during scheduled morning breaks, lunch periods and afternoon breaks. Monitors adult participants’ behaviors by circulating and interacting with participants during lunch and break periods; encouraging participants to move about the room in an orderly fashion. Reports all adult participant injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavior problems to the appropriate authority immediately, and as soon as reasonably possible completes written documentation of any of these occurrences.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required: Prefer past experience working with children or adults with disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
