Supported Living Coordinator

Department: Supported Living

Hours: Full Time

Description of Position: The Supported Living Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the QIDPs in the Supported Living department. The Supported Living Coordinator oversees appropriate staffing, staff hours, assists with hiring needs, and conducts monthly reviews. The Supported Living Coordinator ensures training, inspections, plans of care are appropriate and complete. The Supported Living Coordinator ensures that medical care for the consumers is complete and up to date.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human/social services, business management/supervision, leadership.

Experience Required: Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs, program evaluations, and working in a team environment.  Must have good decision-making and time management skills and be responsible, mature, and flexible. Must have supervision experience and be detail orientated.

Additional Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a responsible, reliable person who is able to work independently. Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

QIDP

Department: Supported Living

Hours: Full Time

Description of Position: The QIDP is responsible for the monitoring, integration, implementation, and coordination of services consisting of a comprehensive functional assessment of the program services. The QIDP is responsible for ensuring the provisions of a consistent and aggressive active treatment program for the consumers. This QIDP will oversee the respite services consumers and supervise the Direct Support Professionals for his/her assigned cases.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related academic disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology, education, social services, and human development).

Employment Services Specialist

Department: Employment Services

Hours: Part-Time

Tradewinds Services, Inc, located in Merrillville, has a part-time position for a Specialist in our Employment Services department.

As a member of TradeWinds Services and an integral part of a diverse population of individuals with disabilities, the candidate is responsible for evaluating, planning, organizing, and providing services on an individual basis for participants enrolled in the program who are seeking community employment. The primary job duties may vary based on the agency needs but includes job readiness instruction, discovery profiles, situational assessments, job development, and job coaching.

Experience Required:   Must have strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities. Must be able to take direction and function as a team player. Must have excellent writing and verbal skills. Must have good decision-making and time management skills and be responsible, mature, and flexible. One to three years’ experience working with diverse populations is preferred.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Social Services or related field.

Lead Direct Support Professional

Department:

Hours: Full Time

Description of Position:  Responsible to work cooperatively with the House Manager, QIDP, Coordinator & other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating programming, training, recreation, and therapeutic activities for the consumers of TradeWinds.  The Lead DSP is responsible to assist the House Manager in maintaining consistency in programming, participant care, and communications with staff. The person in this position has the responsibility to take over responsibilities when the House Manager is not available (vacation, sick, etc.) and to assist the House Manager in training, follow-up and coaching the Direct Support Professionals.  This position is expected to maintain DSP responsibilities as well.

 Education Requirements: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

Extended Services/CHIO

Description of PositionAssisting individuals with disabilities employed in the community with job site training and job coaching related to assessments, job development, employment advocacy and other services needed to maintain their employment. Utilizing structured intervention techniques to help the participating employee learn to perform job tasks to the employer’s specifications. Will perform Community Habilitation Individual Services (CHIO), which involves assisting participants in a manner that supports learning in the areas of self-care, sensory/motor development, socialization, daily living skills, communication, community living, and social skills.  Community-based activities are intended to build relationships and natural supports.

Preschool Teacher/Assistant/Sub

Description of Position: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing for the care, safety, and well-being of the children assigned to the classroom; supporting early learning experiences while using Creative Curriculum in the classroom. Responsible for implementing and following Childcare Licensing regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, Paths to Quality/NAEYC criteria, TradeWinds policies, procedures and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the classroom.

The Assistant Teacher assists in preparing the classroom materials and plans providing quality learning experiences for young children with and without special needs.  Assist in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and utilization of Teaching Strategies Gold. Utilizes positive discipline to guide the child’s behavior in positive ways that support total growth and development, and promote self-esteem; Must work collaboratively and maintain an open, friendly, and professional relationship with the teachers, family members, and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities.

Qualities the candidate must have:

 Additional Responsibilities:  Assistant teacher must obtain at least 20 hours of professional development a year, including attending meetings and training, and maintaining the appropriate competencies and abilities as required by the position; training may occur in the evenings or on weekends, or online.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education; Experience working with children with special needs preferred.

Substitute Lunch Monitor

Department: Industries

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Description of Position: Supervise the adult participants in the lunchroom/break area during scheduled morning breaks, lunch periods and afternoon breaks. Monitors adult participants’ behaviors by circulating and interacting with participants during lunch and break periods; encouraging participants to move about the room in an orderly fashion. Reports all adult participant injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavior problems to the appropriate authority immediately, and as soon as reasonably possible completes written documentation of any of these occurrences.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience Required: Prefer past experience working with children or adults with disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
