Childcare Classroom Floater

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full-Time - Must be available Monday thru Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm (hours may vary)

Description of Position: The Floater is to assist and cooperate in a supportive role working in various classrooms.  Promote health, safety, nutrition and appropriate developmental activities of the children in the classroom. All teachers will work with children with and without special needs.

Additional Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the teachers with the full implementation of Head Start, Paths to Quality, Indiana Early Childcare Licencing Regulations,  TradeWinds Services Policies and Procedures. Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families, to include respect for culture, diversity, and ethnicity. Works according to a schedule determined with input from all teaching staff and the Childcare Coordinator in all classrooms. Performs required caregiving activities for child/children, i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc. Utilizes positive discipline. Attends meetings, training, and professional development activities. Feeding, diapering, and potty training as needed.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA; experience working with children with special needs in a group setting preferred. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Creative Curriculum preferred.

Childcare Teacher Assistant

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full Time - must be available Monday to Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm (hours will vary)

Description of Position:  The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program that will foster language, cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills. The teacher will assist the Lead teacher in implementing creative curriculum, developmental screenings, daily child observations, completing daily classroom health and safety checks, diapering, potty training, feeding, organization of the classroom, participating in ongoing professional development, and staying up-to-date on current required training (online and face to face), and participate in coaching. Trainings may occur during the day, after hours, or on Saturdays.

Additional Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher with the full implementation and compliance of Head Start, Paths to Quality, Indiana Early Childcare Licensing Regulations, TradeWinds Services Policies and Procedures. Observe each child daily to assess skills on TS Gold. Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the Center.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, will consider applicants enrolled in a CDA program or higher educational program, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education; Experience preferred.

Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Number of Positions Available:  (1) Contracted position

Description of Position: Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) work directly and indirectly under the supervision of Speech-Language Pathologists. Work in the local school system and/or in-house setting here at Tradewinds. The job will require local travel to various schools within the community. Must be available for the school hour day from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Education Requirements:  Associate’s degree in an SLPA program or Bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.

Experience Required: Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised fieldwork experience or its clinical experience equivalent.

Group Home Manager

Department: Residential Group Home

Hours: Full Time - Flexible hours including nights, weekends & holidays

Description of Position:  The House Manager is responsible for assisting the QIDP in client healthcare/nutrition and household management.  Including client finances, recreation, program services, family involvement, education/vocational programs, and staffing. Have complete knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and communicate and enforce them to staff. Must be able to train, coach, assign duties, goals and department expectations and encourage others. Key to this position is time management, exceptional oral, written and organizational skills. House Manager must also provide 16 hrs/week of direct service and have a cell phone.

Education Requirements: Preferably a college degree or course work in related field, i.e., Human Services, Psychology, or Social Work.

Experience Required:  One-year plus experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities preferred.

SIGN SHOP LEAD

Department: Sign Shop

Hours: Full Time - Day shift (hours may vary)

Description of Position: Maintain daily production of the Sign Shop. Interact with customers at all levels, from design of the product to customer service.

Experience and Technical Skills Required:  This position requires a minimum of three years of design, running equipment, supervisory/management experience. Must have excellent computer skills. Must be able to maintain the production process.

JANITOR

Department: Janitorial

Hours: Full Time

Description of Position:  Responsible for cleaning all assigned departments in TradeWinds; clean spills, remove trash,  ensure that bathrooms and other areas are properly cleaned and stocked; work as a team to accomplish the janitorial task; follow all the policies and procedures of TradeWinds and other duties as assigned.

LEAD DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

Department: Residential Group Home

Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays

Two full-time positions are available.

Description of Position:  Responsible to work cooperatively with the House Manager, QIDP, Coordinator & other staff in developing, implementing and evaluating programming, training, recreation, and therapeutic activities for the consumers of TradeWinds.  The Lead DSP is responsible to assist the House Manager in maintaining consistency in programming, participant care and communications with staff. The person in this position has the responsibility to take over responsibilities when the House Manager is not available (vacation, sick, etc.) and to assist the House Manager in training, follow-up and coaching the Direct Support Professionals.  This position is expected to maintain DSP responsibilities as well.

 Education Requirements: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a responsible, reliable person who is able to work
independently.

Description of Position: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing for the care, safety, and well-being of the children assigned to the classroom; supporting early learning experiences while using Creative Curriculum in the classroom. Responsible for implementing and following Childcare Licensing regulations, Head Start Performance Standards, Paths to Quality/NAEYC criteria, TradeWinds policies, procedures and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of the classroom.

The Assistant Teacher assists in preparing the classroom materials and plans providing quality learning experiences for young children with and without special needs.  Assist in maintaining records on each child’s progress and development for the purpose of planning and utilization of Teaching Strategies Gold. Utilizes positive discipline to guide the child’s behavior in positive ways that support total growth and development, and promote self-esteem; Must work collaboratively and maintain an open, friendly, and professional relationship with the teachers, family members, and other staff to achieve positive outcomes for children of all abilities.

Qualities the candidate must have:

 Additional Responsibilities:  Assistant teacher must obtain at least 20 hours of professional development a year, including attending meetings and training, and maintaining the appropriate competencies and abilities as required by the position; training may occur in the evenings or on weekends, or online.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education; Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
