Career Support Specialists will work with Out-of-School Youth of varied abilities, ages 16 to 24, to facilitate job readiness training, explore career choices, review, and discuss various jobs and requirements, current employment trends and future opportunities, financial literacy, work experiences, job search, and placement, follow up, and reporting. Some hours can be flexible.

The Specialists will work with the Employment Services Coordinator and Community Liaison to plan workshops, organize and evaluate work experiences, and providing services as a group or individual basis for participants enrolled in the program.

The right persons must have:

*strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.

*good decision-making and time management skills.

*able to take direction and function as a team player or independently.

*excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

*be responsible, reliable, and flexible.

*Technology & computer proficient.

*experience working with diverse populations is a plus.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required. Prefer Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Education, or related field.

Additional Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age and have reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years. Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background checks.

Substitute Pre-Vocational Production Trainer

Department: Production

Hours: As Needed - Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm

This is a substitute position to fill in as needed, working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Description of Position:   Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans.  In addition, provide training to enable the person served to maximize their performance on a variety of production jobs.  Job accommodations and daily written documentation are required regarding participants’ progress and related service issues.  Participation in consumer person-centered planning meetings is required.

Education Requirements:   Minimum High school diploma or GED; post-secondary/training preferred.

Experience Required:  Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education and/or teacher’s aide experience. Shipping experience preferred.  Must be able to multi-task as well as effectively communicate both orally and written.  Must be able to objectively and calmly handle crisis situations.

Lead Adult Trainer

Department: ADAPT (Adult Day Activity Program & Training)

Hours: Full Time - Monday – Friday

Description of PositionTo work with, guide, and teach individuals skills that are necessary to increase or maintain the participant’s present levels of functioning.  To provide direct services to clients which include personal hygiene, housekeeping, daily living skills, and recreational and community-integrated activities.  To provide individual and group habilitation to the consumers and document/track their individual progress.

Education Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Preference will be given to individuals with CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).

Experience Required:  Prefer past experience working with children or adults with disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Must be responsible, reliable, and able to carry out job functions independently without ongoing direct supervision.  Ability to multi-task and work as a team.

Additional InformationMust be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Adult Trainer

Department: ADAPT (Adult Day Activity Program & Training)

Hours: Full-Time - Must be available Monday – Friday, 7am – 3pm

Description of Position – Feeding, toileting, group facilitation, some lifting, and positioning.   Responsible for individual activities. Provide a wide range of activities, which could include such things as gross and fine motor skill activities, games, art/craft activities mobility, exercise, nutrition, and recreation, and leisure activities.  The trainer position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.  This position trains, teaches, and works with participants in the ADAPT (Adult Day ActivityProgram & Training) program.

Documentation – Daily or monthly as required by state regarding feeding and activity schedules, medications, billing, etc. Incident reports.

Education/Certification Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Childcare Teacher Assistant

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full-Time - Must be available Monday-Friday; 6:30 am- 6:00 pm (hours will vary)

Description of Position: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program that will foster language, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The teacher will assist the Lead teacher in implementing Creative Curriculum, developmental screenings, daily child observations, completing daily classroom health and safety checks, diapering, potty training, feeding, organization of the classroom, participating in ongoing professional development, and staying up to date on the current required training (online and face to face), and participate in coaching. Training maybe occur during the day, after hours, or on Saturdays.

Additional Responsibilities: Responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher with the full implementation and compliance of  Paths to Quality, Indiana Early Childcare Licensing Regulations, and TradeWinds Services Policies and Procedures. Observe each child daily to assess skills on TS Gold. Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the Center.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, will consider applicants enrolled in a CDA program or higher educational program, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education; Experience preferred.

Maintenance Assistant

TradeWinds Services, Inc, located in Merrillville, has a full-time Maintenance Assistant position in the Building & Grounds Department, Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Responsible for the appearance, safety, and maintenance of the main center and residential sites owned by TradeWinds. Plan & perform maintenance for all sites owned/operated by TradeWinds Services Inc.

PreSchool Teacher 3-5 Year Old’s

Department: Children Services

Hours: Full Time - Monday - Friday, must be available 6:30 am - 6:00 pm

Description of Position: Classroom management of normal developing and special needs children, supervise field trips, lesson planning and actively participate in daily learning and enrichment activities.  Feeding diapering and potty as well as following through on therapy recommendations necessary within the classroom setting.  The individual must possess creativity, enthusiasm, and strong leadership qualities best suited to craft an optimal learning environment.  Must be able to complete documentation as required by state regulations.  Attend meetings with parents and/or department staff.  Review the work of aides and function independently in order to accomplish assignments, able to maintain confidentiality.

Education Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age.  Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.  May require First Steps credentials.

Experience Required: Must have 3 months to one year experience in working with children in a childcare setting.  Must have good organizational skills.  Must have the ability to work with infants and young children as well as respond properly to emergencies.  Key to this position well is a positive attitude, team player spirit, and lots of energy with the ability and willingness to participate in outdoor/physical activities.

Sign Shop Production Worker

Department: Sign Shop

Hours: Full Time

POSITION OBJECTIVES: To assist with design, create and install all types of signs to customer specifications and ensure a quality product is created and completed on time.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Review production schedule with coordinator and sign shop production supervisor to meet deadlines; Assist workers with proper techniques for production and installation; Work with supervisor to manage production flow to ensure timely completion and delivery; Monitor production for quality assurance; Deliver products when required; Assist customers in person and on the telephone as required; Assist with maintaining material and equipment inventory; Utilize opportunities to learn computer and/or design skills

Transportation Driver

Department:

Hours: Part-Time

TradeWinds Services has a position for a driver to transport individuals with disabilities to and from the TradeWinds center and their place of employment. This is a split shift position averaging 15-20 hours, 5 days a week. Mornings from 7 am – 9 am and afternoons 3 pm – 5 pm. The right person will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of those individuals. It is the role of the transportation driver to ensure the most efficient and safest routes. This position requires the right person to be flexible about time and schedule changes. There is an opportunity for additional hours for events.

This person will also be responsible to:

  • *Ensure the vehicle has sufficient fuel
  • *Keep vehicle clean and free of debris
  • *Transport individuals to and from authorized locations only
  • *Operate vehicle in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; immediately reporting any traffic violations and accidents to Human Resources
  • *In the event of an accident, assure medical emergency procedures are followed; complete written internal incident reports as required by TradeWinds’ procedure and other authorities.
  • *Attend and participate in centers in-service training, and other continuing education, career, and professional development opportunities.
  • *Perform other duties as assigned.

Must possess a current valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance, no suspensions within a 3-year period; high school diploma or equivalent; be at least 21 years of age. Respite Care offers caregivers of children and adults with disabilities the opportunity for a short-term break to care for themselves, spend time with other family members, or have the freedom to run errands without worry. Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.

Substitute Lunch Monitor

Department: Industries

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Description of Position: Supervise the adult participants in the lunchroom/break area during scheduled morning breaks, lunch periods and afternoon breaks. Monitors adult participants’ behaviors by circulating and interacting with participants during lunch and break periods; encouraging participants to move about the room in an orderly fashion. Reports all adult participant injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavior problems to the appropriate authority immediately, and as soon as reasonably possible completes written documentation of any of these occurrences.
