QIDP – QUALIFIED INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES PROFESSIONAL

TradeWinds Services, Inc, located in Merrillville, has a full-time position in our Group Homes department for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP). The QIDP is responsible for the monitoring, integration, implementation and coordination of services consisting of a comprehensive functional assessment of the program services. Ultimately, the QIDP is responsible for ensuring the provisions of a consistent and aggressive active treatment program for the program participants. The QIDP also supervises the Direct Support Professionals and works cooperatively with the QIDP, Residential Coordinator and Wellness Nurse. The QIDP is the liaison between physicians, nurses, practitioners, therapist, and residential staff. The QIDP also performs the following: provides coaching and development of staff on an ongoing basis by acting as a role model; gives feedback and establishes staff development plans; completes and conducts performance evaluations on a timely basis, and submit evaluations to the General Manager of Programs for review; procures prescription medication; assures timeliness and quality of written reports; assure the application for and receipt of client unearned income sources (eg. Medicaid, Social Security, SSI) are completed and received; and conduct in-services/meetings as needed in the home and organization.

Education Requirements: Bachelor degree in human services or related academic disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology, education and human development).
Experience Required: 2-5 years experience working with the DD/MR population.  Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs, program evaluations, and working in a team environment.  Must have good decision-making and time management skills.  Must be responsible, mature, and flexible.

Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Description of Position: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) works directly and indirectly with children in need of speech and language services. Work in the local school system and/or in-house setting at TradeWinds main facility. The job will require local travel to various schools within the community. Childcare Cook

Department: Children's Services

Hours:

Description of PositionSupervise production/preparation, food purchases, and service of meals in accordance with established United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and State guidelines and standards for nutrition, health, and sanitation. This employee will follow menus created by the contracted Nutritionist. The Cook purchases all food and necessary supplies. This position maintains records required by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This position involves extensive organizing, problem solving, record keeping, and time management skills. The noise level may be moderate to loud in the center and kitchen. This position requires working in close quarters. Must enjoy being around children. TradeWinds serves children with all abilities. The Cook will prepare, setup and/or deliver lunch and a.m. snack to the children.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Must possess a current Food Handlers Card from Board of Health Department. ServSafe Certification or obtain such certification within 3 months.

Experience Required:  Work experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals, preferably in a childcare facility. Experience purchasing large amounts of food.

Grant Writer & Marketing

Department: Marketing & Development

Hours: Full-Time - hours may vary.

Position Objective:  Responsible for researching, drafting, and submitting grant applications and other proposals to obtain grants or other funding for a variety of TradeWinds programs and projects. Also assist Director of Development and Marketing with marketing activities including brand development, public relations, chamber and community relations, and fundraising efforts.

Position Responsibilities (including, but not limited to the following)

Grants

  • Work with Grant Assistant to research potential grant applications.
  • Research criteria for grants to determine eligibility.
  • Follow grant application criteria, compiling information – narrative, data, documents required, etc.
    • Work with the departments requesting grant funding applications to obtain understanding of request/project for funding and needed information.
    • Work with Grant Writer Assistant on application process to assist with compiling data/ information needed to complete application.
  • Have application draft reviewed by department head/others involved, and Director of Development & Marketing before submitting.
  • Work toward submitting application prior to deadline. Track deadlines, set-up reminders in Outlook calendar.
  • If awarded grant, complete necessary requirements as needed to receive funding payment (i.e., paperwork, ACH form, etc).
  • Upon receipt of funding, do thank you on website News page and send copy and photo/art/logo to Marketing Assistant to post on Facebook (save documentation for final grant reporting).
    • Send email to department head/others responsible for the grant funding received and reiterate the details/requirements submitted in the grant application (cc finance). Request invoices, information, or photos on purchases and activities for documentation be sent to you regularly for interim reporting purposes or at end of grant reporting. Save this information in a folder (also copy to X drive).
  • Maintain application documents/receipts for files for future referral (hard copy & digital on X drive) – many grantors require retention of information/data for several years (each is different).
  • Work with Grant Writer Assistant to ensure maintenance of tracking spreadsheet as spends occur.
  • Retain photos of activities for final reporting (as needed).
  • Communicate with fiscal department regarding monthly spend/activity, update spreadsheet on shared fiscal drive.
  • Communicate monthly update with department head or those responsible for spending of the grant funds and the fiscal department. Remind of deadlines and grant fund amounts remaining that need to be spent, may need to remind about items or activities the funds can be used for.
  • Communicate with grantor as needed, especially if an issue with the spending or project as it may be necessary to request an extension (this should be rare).
  • Keep tracking spreadsheet of grant applications, deadlines, criteria, details of award timing; and keep another tab on spreadsheet for Board reporting of activity for fiscal year; provide updated report for Board or Board Committee meetings as requested from Director of Development & Marketing.

Job requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task, and strong time management skills.
  • Demonstrate the highest of personal and ethical standards.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Publisher applications.
  • Attend mandatory TradeWinds meetings.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must clear TradeWinds background check & drug screen.
  • Ability to work within a team framework.

 Education:  High School Diploma; Five years of sales/marketing experience.

Contact with Others:  Marketing department & organization-wide staff; Grantors such as Foundations, Businesses, Government Agencies; Business and community leaders, Board of Directors, donors, and supporters; TradeWinds clientele; General Public.

TVT Lead Trainer

Department: Adult Day Activity Program & Training & Transitional Vocational Training (ADAPT/TVT)

Hours: Full-Time - 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

TradeWinds Services is seeking a Lead Trainer to ensure the Transitional Vocational Training (TVT) program remains in compliance with all State regulatory agencies and meet the needs of the adults enrolled in the program.  Provide daily support of all TVT participants as needed.  Daily completion of curriculum and individual goals.  Weekly community outings to encourage and train for community jobs.

Education Requirements:    High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.

Experience Required:  Previous experience working directly with participants with disabilities. Previous data entry experience, knowledge of computers and ability to learn other software programs.

Position Reports to:   Prevocational & ADAPT Lead

Additional Information:  Must be responsible, reliable individual who can work independently, multi-task and manage time wisely. Able to train from a provided curriculum and complete daily tasks in a timely manner. Production/Pre-Vocational Trainer

Hours: Full-Time - Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Description of Position – Provide Pre-Vocational training and assistance for adults that require close monitoring per behavior plans or other special needs. Responsible for working with participants to achieve their pre-vocational goals.  Daily documentation of progress toward their goals and any related pre-vocational skills is required.  Responsible for implementing a variety of paid or non-paid assembly and packaging jobs.  Train participant to perform tasks at a high quality level according to customer requirements. Accurately record quantities of products completed by each participant on time cards.  Required to attend training related to health, safety, and related service topics as specified by State/Federal funding sources.

Documentation – Daily recording of progress each participant is making toward achievement of their behavior plan or other goals on Person Centered Individual Support Plans.  Daily record keeping of products completed and recording job codes on time cards.

Education/Certification Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalent required with preference given to applicants with past experience working with individuals with intellectual or behavior diagnosis.

Experience Required:  Must have up to one-year work experience with adults with intellectual disabilities.

ADAPT Substitute Pre-Vocational Production Trainer

This is a substitute position to fill in as needed, working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Description of Position:   Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans.  In addition, provide training to enable the person served to maximize their performance on a variety of production jobs.  Job accommodations and daily written documentation are required regarding participants’ progress and related service issues.  Participation in consumer person-centered planning meetings is required.

Education Requirements:   Minimum High school diploma or GED; post-secondary/training preferred.

Experience Required:  Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in education and/or teacher’s aide experience. Respite Care offers caregivers of children and adults with disabilities the opportunity for a short-term break to care for themselves, spend time with other family members, or have the freedom to run errands without worry. Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.
