ADAPT ADULT TRAINER

TradeWinds Services, located in Merrillville, has a part-time position as an ADAPT Adult Trainer, working with adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will train, teach, and work with participants in the ADAPT (Adult Day Activity Program & Training) program. Must be available Monday – Friday, 7 am – 3 pm.

Description of Position – Feeding, toileting, group facilitation, some lifting, and positioning. Responsible for individual activities. Provide a wide range of activities, which could include such things as gross and fine motor skill activities, games, art/craft activities, mobility, exercise, nutrition, and recreation, and leisure activities.  The trainer position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Documentation – Daily or monthly as required by the state regarding feeding and activity schedules, medications, billing, etc. Incident reports.

Education/Certification RequirementsHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

Sales & Marketing Executive

Department: Marketing & Development/Sign Shop

This is a full-time sales position with competitive base salary + commission and benefits package selling TradeWinds Sign Shop services in Northwest Indiana and surrounding areas.

POSITION SUMMARY: Primary responsibility is to act in a trusted advisory and leadership role for the TradeWinds Sign Shop to create and execute sales and marketing plans to bring in new business for the Sign Shop.  This role requires a leader and true sales and marketing professional who can use consultative selling methods to uncover and understand the needs of businesses, thoughtfully craft a strategy designed to address those needs, implement and execute the strategy.

Sign Shop Responsibilities:

  • Make sales calls to cultivate new business for the Sign Shop.
  • Market the Sign Shop at events and expos.
  • Cold call new customers and create target lists.
  • Work with Sign Shop Manager to understand products and priority sales targets.
  • Monitor Sign Shop competitors and their pricing.
  • Prepare and submit reports to Director of Development & Marketing.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required: High School diploma, valid driver’s license, a reliable insured vehicle.

Strongly Preferred: two years’ relevant sales experience; knowledge of sign shop business preferred but not necessary.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must have the desire to be a true and successful salesperson, and willing to embrace cold calling initiatives when needed.
  • Must be able to work independently within the parameters of the position, make sound business decisions, and problem solve as needed. Must be very well organized and self-directed with a focus on goal attainment as top priority.
  • Must have strong customer service skills that focus on customer retention and a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Must be very driven, attentive to detail, organized and goal oriented with strong time management skills. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with customers, colleagues and staff.
  • Must routinely apply logic to troubleshoot solutions to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication ability including phone skills and etiquette are a must
  • Strong typing, spelling and grammatical skills required as well as basic computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet. Knowledge of social media preferred.

Janitor

Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Description of Position: Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) work directly and indirectly under the supervision of Speech Language Pathologists. Work in the local school system and/or in-house setting here at TradeWinds. The job will require local travel to various schools within the community. Must be available for the school hour day from 8:00am – 3:30pm.

Education Requirements:     Associate’s degree in an SLPA program or Bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program.

 Experience Required:  Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent.

Childcare Lead Teacher

Description of Position: The Lead Teacher and the Assistant Teacher are responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team.  They are responsible for supervising and caring for infants and toddlers that are enrolled in the Childcare program.  They are responsible to plan and implement the curriculum in accordance with TradeWinds Services and their partnership program, Early Head Start.  This position requires active participation with the children, families, other members of the teaching team, as well as various Early Head Start staff, to asses and address the needs of individual children.

Experience:    Must have at least three (3) months experience with children in a classroom setting

Childcare Teacher Assistant

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program that will foster language, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. The teacher will assist the Lead teacher in implementing creative curriculum, developmental screenings, daily child observations, completing daily classroom health and safety checks, diapering, potty training, feeding, organization of the classroom, participating in ongoing professional development, and staying up-to-date on the current required training (online and face to face), and participate in coaching. Training may occur during the day, after hours, or on Saturdays.

Responsible for assisting the Lead Teacher with the full implementation and compliance of Paths to Quality, Indiana Early Childcare Licensing Regulations, and TradeWinds Services Policies and Procedures. Observe each child daily to assess skills on TS Gold. Establish a positive relationship with each child’s family and share information about the child’s day at the Center.

Education Requirements: Minimum CDA, will consider applicants enrolled in a CDA program or higher educational program, Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education; Experience preferred. Must be able to pass drug screenings and background checks.

Lead Direct Support Professional

Lead Direct Support Professional in the Residential Group Homes department, starting at $15.50/hour, requires flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Description of Position:  Responsible to work cooperatively with the House Manager, QIDP, Coordinator & other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating programming, training, recreation, and therapeutic activities for the consumers of TradeWinds.  The Lead DSP is responsible to assist the House Manager in maintaining consistency in programming, participant care, and communications with staff. The person in this position has the responsibility to take over responsibilities when the House Manager is not available (vacation, sick, etc.) and to assist the House Manager in training, follow-up, and coaching the Direct Support Professionals.  This position is expected to maintain DSP responsibilities as well.

ADAPT Substitute Pre-Vocational Production Trainer

This is a substitute position to fill in as needed, working with adults with developmental disabilities.

Description of Position:   Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans.  In addition, provide training to enable the person served to maximize their performance on a variety of production jobs.  Job accommodations and daily written documentation are required regarding participants’ progress and related service issues.  Participation in consumer person-centered planning meetings is required.

Education Requirements:   Minimum High school diploma or GED; post-secondary/training preferred.

Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.

Substitute Lunch Monitor

Description of Position: Supervise the adult participants in the lunchroom/break area during scheduled morning breaks, lunch periods and afternoon breaks.
