Description of Position: The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional is responsible for the monitoring, integration, implementation and coordination of services consisting of a comprehensive functional assessment of the program services. Ultimately, the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional is responsible for ensuring the provisions of a consistent and aggressive active treatment program for the consumers. The Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional also supervises the House Managers and works cooperatively with the residential nurses.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human services or related academic disciplines (e.g., psychology, sociology, education and human development).
Experience Required: Prior experience in developing and implementing individual programs, program evaluations, and working in a team environment. Must have good decision-making and time management skills and be responsible, mature, and flexible.
Position Reports to: Lead Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional
Additional Information: Must have a valid driver’s license with no suspensions for traffic infractions during the past three years. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a responsible, reliable person who is able to work independently. Must clear TradeWinds’ background checks.

Career Support Specialists will work with Youth of varied abilities, ages 16 to 24, to facilitate job readiness training, explore career choices, review, and discuss various jobs and requirements, current employment trends and future opportunities, financial literacy, work experiences, job search, and placement, follow up, and reporting. Some hours can be flexible.
The Specialists will work with the Employment Services Coordinator and Community Liaison to plan workshops, organize and evaluate work experiences, and providing services as a group or individual basis for participants enrolled in the program.

TradeWinds Services, located in Merrillville, has a part-time position as an ADAPT Adult Trainer, working with adults with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will train, teach, and work with participants in the ADAPT (Adult Day Activity Program & Training) program. Must be available Monday – Friday, 7 am – 3 pm.
Description of Position – Feeding, toileting, group facilitation, some lifting, and positioning. Responsible for individual activities. Provide a wide range of activities, which could include such things as gross and fine motor skill activities, games, art/craft activities, mobility, exercise, nutrition, and recreation, and leisure activities. The trainer position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Documentation – Daily or monthly as required by the state regarding feeding and activity schedules, medications, billing, etc. Incident reports.
Education/Certification Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass drug screening and criminal background check.

Lead Direct Support Professional in the Residential Group Homes department, starting at $17.50/hour, requires flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Description of Position: Responsible to work cooperatively with the House Manager, QIDP, Coordinator & other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating programming, training, recreation, and therapeutic activities for the consumers of TradeWinds. The Lead DSP is responsible to assist the House Manager in maintaining consistency in programming, participant care, and communications with staff. The person in this position has the responsibility to take over responsibilities when the House Manager is not available (vacation, sick, etc.) and to assist the House Manager in training, follow-up, and coaching the Direct Support Professionals. This position is expected to maintain DSP responsibilities as well.

Description of Position: Responsible to train participants based on their individual pre-vocational goals as identified in their Individual Service Plans. Our Respite Care staff takes individuals with special needs on outings to community-based activities, shopping, bowling, theaters, etc. Respite care can also be provided in-home or at a TradeWinds Respite Apartment.

Description of Position: Supervise the adult participants in the lunchroom/break area during scheduled morning breaks, lunch periods and afternoon breaks. Monitors adult participants’ behaviors by circulating and interacting with participants during lunch and break periods; encouraging participants to move about the room in an orderly fashion. Reports all adult participant injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavior problems to the appropriate authority immediately, and as soon as reasonably possible completes written documentation of any of these occurrences.
